What are Azure security foundations?

Azure security is a shared responsibility across the cloud platform, tenant, workloads, and the people operating them. A foundation combines identity governance, access control, secure configuration, network boundaries, secret handling, threat visibility, and response ownership. Controls should be proportionate to the workload and applied consistently, while exceptions remain documented and reviewed.

Technical design

Security control layers

The architecture depends on workloads, identity, connectivity, and the operating model; there is no single design for every organization.

01

Identity and privileged access

Review Microsoft Entra ID, multifactor authentication, role assignment, privileged workflows, service identities, and account lifecycle.

02

Governance and secure configuration

Use Azure Policy and documented baselines to identify drift, apply required settings, and track approved exceptions.

03

Secrets and key management

Define secure storage and access for credentials, certificates, encryption keys, and application secrets; avoid embedding secrets in code.

04

Network and workload boundaries

Limit exposure, separate trust zones, control administrative paths, and review public endpoints and private connectivity.

05

Security posture and threat signals

Use available Microsoft security services and logs to understand posture, prioritize findings, and route actionable alerts.

06

Response and assurance

Assign owners for investigation, remediation, evidence, and review; test that critical controls behave as intended.

From design to operations

How Rollitech supports Azure security

We clarify scope, assumptions, and ownership before configuration, then validate the result and hand over usable operating guidance.

01

Review the current environment

Assess identity, resource configuration, network exposure, logging, existing controls, and operating responsibilities.

02

Prioritize practical controls

Separate urgent exposure from longer-term improvements and align actions with risk, service impact, and ownership.

03

Implement agreed improvements

Configure controls in stages, validate their effect, and record exceptions or dependencies requiring customer decisions.

04

Make the controls operable

Document alerts, review cadence, evidence, incident routes, and the teams responsible for ongoing changes.

Before implementation

Security questions to answer

  • Which roles need privileged access, how is it approved, and how is it reviewed?
  • Which resources need private access, and what public exposure is explicitly required?
  • Who monitors alerts, accepts residual risk, and owns remediation for each workload?

Strengthen Azure security with clear ownership.
